See: brown area. Finger grip space. Fiberglass for the back.

Maybe molded plastic would be more appropriate for the back?

Whats your best recommendation for a tablet? I think Im at that point where I need to start thinking about buying one. I love the cyntiq, but I dont wanna spend 2k for 15” that isnt really very portable.

Not that kind of tablet

Why not? The Pro 3 is outperforming Wacom tablets and it's a very powerful all-in-one.

Its the digitizer, Its gotta be really precise

The Pro 2 is a Wacom digitizer and almost as good as a Cintiq. The 3 is a non-Wacom (because Wacom couldn’t provide the sensitivity MS wanted) and is being reviewed as better than Cintiq overall. Still has Wintab support too.

Plus 2 grand will get you a 512GB SSD, Core i7 proc and 8GB RAM :) The most powerful Surface Pro
in the wooorld

If I get it, Id probably get a midgrade model and swap in new ram and upgrade the SSD as I go. How serviceable are they?

everything is surface mount. Nothing is upgradeable. They do it that way to keep weight and size down, that’s how you can get an i7 in the thing. The i7 with a 256GB SSD is 1549 and does have USB3 ports for external storage. I’d go that route. The i5 is a well performing machine but the lower end proc does mean some mild suffering with resource intensive programs.

More people should use the word.
